Items are added to the return bin when a refund/exchange is processed on the POS. From back office Settings > POS configuration, setup which return reason add items back to stock and which reasons add items to the return bin. Please refer to the POS configuration article on how to setup reasons.
View the return bin list
The return bin displays a list of all actioned and unactioned items. Search for an item by product name or order number.
The return bin items includes a link to the original order for reference and a reason why the item was added to the return bin.
Filter the list by date range, store the item was process in and the Status; All, Written-off or Returned to stock.
Action a return - Return to stock
To return an item to stock, tap Action on the line item in the list. Select Return to stock and the store the item is being returned to (this is important so they stock level is updated in the correct store). Confirm the return and the list displays the date/time stamp of the return.
Action a return - Write-off stock
To return an item to stock, tap Action on the line item in the list. Select Write-off and the store the item is being deducted from (this is important so they stock level is updated in the correct store).
A reference number is automatically generated but editable. Select a reason for the return and add notes as required. Finally, the cost price is displayed, edit if required. Confirm the write-off and the list displays the date/time stamp of the write-off.
As a write-off has been processed from the return bin, a write-off is also generated and available to view from back office Stock control > Stock movements then filter to Write-off and also from Reports > Write-off report.
As the item is a write-off, the financial loss (which is why the cost price is important) is reflected on the Reports > Finance report as a loss in the profit and loss section.
