Find out how to import new products and export products.

Import new products

On the product list page, tap then Download Product Import template to download the product template.

When importing variant products, ensure the Variant SKU and Barcode is unique, but the Name and Product SKU is the same; this will group all the product variants into one product.

Ensure all tax rates are created in the back office before importing your products. Define tax rates from within the Settings > Tax rates; you'll specify a single character tax code when creating the rates, use this code in the CSV template. The default created is 20% with a code S. Use the codes within the import rather than 20% or 20.

The CSV file must remain as a CSV file when saving.

Tap then Import to import the products. The import will fail if there are duplicate SKU's (if no variant SKU's are specified), variant SKU's and barcodes, or errors in the CSV. A list of reasons why the products failed to import will be displayed with the option to retry once the errors are rectified.

Upon successful import, the images will be generating in the background. The products will be created but the images may take a few minutes to generate if importing thousands. Please ensure images are of a consistent size and ratio. The ideal image is a JPEG no more than 200kb. Preferred maximum width is 840px. Aspect ratio 3:4 or 1:1. A WEBP version of the image will also be generated on import for use on your eCommerce site.

Import Tips

  • Tip 1: Ensure capitalisations and spellings are consistent when creating suppliers, brand, categories and colours or variations of the same type will be created.

  • Tip 2: For a product with variants, the Name and ProductSKU must be identical to group them as one product on import. Specify the variant colours/sizes in separate columns.

  • Tip 3: If your variants are not sizes or colours, add custom options by adding a label to Option1Name then specify the variants under Option1Value. You can add 2 custom options in addition to colour/size

  • Tip 4: If you have several images and/or tags per product, separate each with a space then a pipe ( | ) then a space.

  • Tip 5: Only include URL links to JPG's or PNG's. Please don't include WEBP's on the import as Saledock generates them. URL links should be the full public URL such as www.domainname.com/images/imagename.jpg

  • Tip 6: Ensure the barcode column formatting is set to Number to zero decimal places. You'll need to do this each time you open the spreadsheet.

  • Tip 7: Ensure the remaining column column formatting is set to Text. Watch out for this in Excel, this is not usually an issue if you are using Google Sheets. To avoid formatting issues, save the spreadsheet and leave it open. Importing the spreadsheet while it's still open generally avoids formatting issues.

  • Tip 8: If you are using special characters in the name and/or description such as Β£, $ & .etc. save the file as a CSV UTF-8 to avoid special characters being stripped out of the CSV file
